A Designer's Creative Story:
A Gentle Wish Hidden in Trendy Toys
When designing this golden elephant, my first thought was to break down the barrier between "auspicious ornaments" and "trendy toys for young people." Our generation appreciates the individuality of trendy items, yet we still cherish those deep-seated aspirations. Therefore, I wanted to create a "carrier of good fortune" that could reside in both a workspace and a display case.
When deciding on the elephant as the core prototype, the first thing that came to mind was the traditional meaning of "elephant" (象) being a homophone for "auspicious" (祥) – in the midst of busy cross-border business, "good fortune and smooth sailing" is the simplest yet most precious wish. I deliberately designed the elephant's trunk with a high, upward curve, not just for visual dynamism, but also hoping it could act as an "energy receiver," drawing in wealth and good fortune from all directions. The choice of mirror-finish electroplated gold not only echoes the core theme of "attracting wealth" but also adapts to the aesthetics of modern spaces—it's not a heavy, traditional gold ornament, but rather a trendy, shimmering toy that wouldn't look out of place on a Thai blogger's desk or a young person's entryway.
My most tender touch is hidden in the details: the rounded limbs and full contours soften the coldness of the metal, making it look like an adorable little friend, its smooth curves soothing to the touch and relieving work fatigue; the red bead on its chest is a clever resonance between Chinese celebration and Thai blessing culture—red symbolizes good fortune in both cultures—and paired with the clear "attracting wealth" inscription, makes this blessing direct and passionate.
I've always believed that good trendy toys are not just decorative items, but also a vessel for emotions. When designing this golden elephant, I envisioned a cross-border seller, while packing and shipping, catching a glimpse of its upturned trunk and feeling a surge of confidence for a successful sale; a young person giving it to a friend starting a business—no words are needed, the blessing of good fortune is sincere enough.
I hope this little golden elephant, with its trendy design, can embody everyone's beautiful aspirations for life—that wherever you are, you will attract wealth and good fortune, and that everything will go smoothly.
